Bariloche

Publié le par Carole

Hi everyone,

We spent an extra day in El Bolsón where we stayed sunbathing next to el Lago Pueblo. Had a treat in the evening eating a waffle loaded with dulce de leche, whipped cream, chocolate and walnuts.

08/11/06 Were on the bus to Bariloche till 12:30pm. The landscape was just stunning with the lakes reflecting the snow-capped mountains. We got to the bus station which is 3km East from the town centre. We just couldn´t take it anymore and had to eat. As soon as we reached the town centre, we went to a Tenedor Libre and ate all that we could for 5 euros (sushis, prawns, salads, meats, loads of cakes). Feeding up a backpacker isn´t an easy thing. I think they managed it though and our bellies were so sore that it was difficult to carry the rugsacks. We just stopped at the first hostel. Well the first one was full so we just crossed the street. Ok it ´s not the best place ever, a bit smelly, creepy and old but we only sleep there. And the first person we met was a Paddy. I was sooo delighted to have a wee chat with him. Felt grand! Talking ´bout the rain, Droichead, Guiness, the Luás, the 5 year delay in opening the tunnel in Dublin. Felt like being ´home´. But sure, what can you do?

We started our day at 3:00pm so we didn´t go far. Just caught a local bus to go up a hill from where we could have a full view of Bariloche and the seven lakes (not dwarfs).  Forgot to say that Bariloche is a very very touristy place. It´s full of restaurants, pubs, etc.. It´s also the hometown of chocolate.

So we climbed up the hill and went down by telepherique. Felt like two kids with our feet in the open space. The view was just breathtaking. Then we headed back to Bariloche, wandered in the streets, visited the church and gulped down a sirloin with chips. Cheeky.

09/11/06 Went for the Circuito Chico. A 10 km walk round lakes. It was great. You could think, wahoo, 4 months of hiking we could become so fit. But, because we are a bit disorganised, we don´t have a balanced diet. That´s the thing. Because we are trekking every day, all we are eating are sandwiches. Tonight we thought we should have a treat and go for a trout. But we passed by a very very cheap restaurant, if you can call that restaurant and that´s where we had dinner. Had a huge burger with a fried egg and chips. Feel so fat now. Anyway, won´t bore you about our diet if it´s not done already.

We are planning to spend one last night in Bariloche and we may take a bus to Chile on Saturday. Cheerio.
