El Bolsón
Hello
Hope you are all keeping well. Unfortunately we didn´t go to El Calafate nor Perito Moreno nor Ushuaia. Sorry Giamperro and Danilo but we simply don´t have the equipment. It would cost us a fortune to invest in warm clothes. We would have only needed them for a few days as other places we are going to are much warmer.
Instead we took a bus from Puerto Madryn to El Bolsón right across the country. Long night trying to sleep at the full moon
glow. We got there at 8:30am, found a pretty little house just for the two of us, gathered some information at the tourist office and went for a 12 km walk to see the Indian Head. It is the Argentinean equivalent to the American Mount Rushmore except that it was carved by Mother Nature. This time, instead of the Rotweiller, we were followed by a smaller dog. He came with us the whole way and we left him back home where we found him in the first place. At 4:00pm, our legs were killing us and we were so knackered we couldn´t get back to our chalet so we had to lye on the grass and sleep. We finally crawled back to our ´real´ bed and stayed there till the following morning.
06/11/06 Today we decided to go for a 10 km walk (one way) to some waterfalls. The entrance gate of the site was closed but unlocked so we passed in and found no one. Watched the falls from above when one limping cat came to welcome us then a dog then another cat and a series of hens, chicks and chicken. They were all asking for food. It felt so weird. Stayed there for a while then headed towards other falls. It was 4:30pm and we had another 10 km to reach back the town. Guess what? We just hitch-hiked and the first car stopped and gave us a lift. Thank you...!
That´s our last nite here. Tomorrow we are taking the bus to Bariloche, 2 hours North from here. Bye for now.
