Leaving Rio

Publié le par Carole

Hey guys,

Ok I must admit something.... I didn´t take any pics of the gorgeous men. I am sorry but I would kinda look stupid walking around taking snaps of all the nice bums and arms. Well I must say, I did spot some men on the beach today who were tourists and who were hiding a camera towards thongs. Yes, that´s right, when there is a will, there is a way. So I won´t go on about the nice men. Sorry girls.

Last time we updated the blog was two days ago and it was pouring rain outside.

Monday 23rd of October. Yes the sun was eventually shining and the sky was blue. Got our bathing suits on and headed off to Copacabana where we were very sensible all covered in sunblock. After an hour, so from 10:00 to 11:00 we decided to go in the palms shade as the sun was just scorching. Had some coconut milk and then were dying for a wee so headed back towards the streets where we ended up in an italian fast food. They do pastas with 8 toppings. We thought that portions would be huge with 8 toppings. But it was like micro-toppings. I chose the toppings for the salad and David chose them for the pasta. When I finished eating, I tried to guess what was in the pasta sauce and only found three toppings (tomatoes, cashew nuts and cheese). There were also mushrooms, peppers, bacon, chicken and something else but they were chopped so small that you couldn´t taste them. This lunch description was provided because we were asked to do so ... ;)  When we were ready to go back onto the beach, the wind started to blow hard and we got back to the hostel instead. Even had time to go to the bus station to get our tickets for tomorrow. The hostel organises different nights almost everyday (yeah we are talking like regular patrons) and yesterday was Pizza Night. For a fiver, we could eat as many homemade pizzas as we could and let me tell you that we got very stuffed.

Tuesday 24th of October. The sun is shining again and the sky is blue again. Yeah!!! This time we decided to go to Leblon Beach which is at the far end of Ipanema Beach after Copacabana. Lied there for a few hours and it felt good. Got a bit sunburnt so at lunchtime we got back to the hostel and by the time we went back to the beach, it was very windy and cold. Tonight it´s Chicken Stroganoff Night (in lieu of beef). We will give it a go and see if we like it. It is our seventh and last night in Rio.

Tomorrow we will be taking the bus for 3 hours and then the boat for 2 hours to Ilha Grande where we spend two nights and then on Friday we will be taking a 6-hour ride bus to Sao Paulo where our plane departs on Saturday for Buenos Aires. Hasta la vista.
